Abstract:
(EN) A chemical analysis method for determining chemically related differences between subject biological material such as genetically modified plant material and control biological material such as genetically unmodified plant material, which method includes at least the following six steps. The first step is to contact the subject biological material with a fluid extractant, such as a mixture of water, isopropanol and potassium hydroxide, to produce a fluid extract of the subject biological material. The second step is to contact the control biological material with the fluid extractant to produce a fluid extract of the control biological material. The third step is to chromatograph the fluid extract of the subject biological material, for example, gas or fluid chromatography, to produce a chromatogram of the fluid extract of the subject biological material. The fourth step is to chromatograph the fluid extract of the control biological material to produce a chromatogram of the fluid extract of the control biological material. The fifth step is to determine the differences between the chromatograms, for example, by using the method of United States Patent 5,592,402, to identify at least one outlier peak. The sixth step is to determine the chemical identity of the outlier peak, for example, using gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy analysis of the outlier peak.
(FR) L'invention concerne une méthode d'analyse chimique permettant de déterminer des différences chimiques entre un matériel biologique cible, tel qu'un matériel végétal génétiquement modifié et un matériel biologique de contrôle, tel qu'un matériel végétal non génétiquement modifié. La méthode consiste en au moins six étapes. La première étape consiste à mettre en contact le matériel biologique cible avec un extractant fluide, tel qu'un mélange d'eau, d'isopropanol et d'hydroxyde de potassium, afin de produire un extrait fluide du matériel biologique cible. La deuxième étape consiste mettre en contact le matériel biologique de contrôle avec l'extractant fluide, afin de produire un extrait fluide du matériel biologique de contrôle. La troisième étape consiste à chromatographier l'extrait fluide du matériel biologique cible, par exemple, une chromatographie gazeuse ou liquide, pour produire un chromatogramme de l'extrait fluide du matériel biologique cible. La quatrième étape consiste à chromatographier l'extrait fluide du matériel biologique de contrôle afin de produire un chromatogramme de l'extrait fluide du matériel biologique de contrôle. La cinquième étape consiste à déterminer les différences entre les chromatogrammes, par exemple, au moyen de la méthode décrite dans le brevet américain (US) 5,592,402, afin d'identifier au moins un pic aberrant.
