Title: BRUSH HEAD, ESPECIALLY DENTAL BRUSH HEAD AND METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ITS PRODUCTION
Abstract:
The invention relates to a brush head, especially a dental brush head that comprises a base element (2) at the circumference of which bristle filaments (4) are provided that are combined to bristles bundles (16a). The aim of the invention is to improve such a known brush head by simplifying its handling and adapting it to the hygienic requirements, especially for the use of the brush head for personal hygiene, specifically for the hygiene in the oral cavity, while keeping a relative small diameter of the brush head. According to a first aspect of the invention, the generic brush head is developed further by providing the bristle bundles (16a) with enlargements (18) on the ends close to the fixation. These enlargements are melted on the bundles and are linked with the base element by injection-molding around the bristle bundles. The brush head is made easier to handle by providing the handle that is arranged on the base element with an elastic joint. According to the inventive method, the bristle bundles are inserted into recesses that are provided in molding tools (20). Said molding tools are joined to form a molding cavity that is closed across its periphery. A synthetic material is injected into said molding cavity. Said synthetic material flows around the enlargements that have been produced by melting on the ends of the bristle bundles (16) on the ends close to the fixation, thereby forming a base element. The inventive injection molding device comprises, in addition to the two tool halves that are separated by a separating plane, at least two molding tool halves that are located in the tool halves and that are provided with recesses that receive the bristle bundles.
