The invention relates to a hinge for the door (2) of a motor vehicle, whereby the door (2) can be displaced by means of a four-bar mechanism in relation to a doorpost in a transversal movement with a pivoting movement superimposed thereon. The four-bar mechanism has a supporting arm (4) which is hingeably joined to the door (2) and doorpost (3), in addition to a control rod (5) which is hingeably joined to the door (2) and doorpost (3). The supporting arm (4) is hingeably secured on the side of the door and doorpost to two respective hinge eyelets (7a, 7b, 14a, 14b) which are associated with the supporting arm in the end areas thereof. The control rod (5) is produced as a single piece and is coupled with a bearing plate (9) on the side of the door and doorpost, whereby a corresponding hinge eyelet (7a) of the support arm (4) is also coupled therewith and the control rod (5) is coupled with a hinge element (19) on the end thereof facing away from the side. The aim of the invention is to create a door hinge in the bodywork, whereby said hinge can act upon the position of the door in the bodywork in a simple and effective manner. This is achieved by mounting the hinge element (19) which is coupled with the control rod (5) in such a way that it can be displaced with and in the direction of said control rod (5) in relation to a corresponding hinge element (12) which is associated with a hinge eyelet (14a) of the supporting arm (4).
