(EN)The present invention relates to a balloon expandable stent mounted on a balloon catheter, the entire assembly being overcoated with a coherent polymer coating, which is preferably substantially continuous over the circumference and, more preferably, axial length of the stent on the balloon. The polymer coating improves retention of the stent on the balloon during delivery and does not adversely effect the deployment characteristics, nor the balloon failure characteristics. The product is made by mounting the stent on the balloon and coating the assembly with a liquid coating composition containing a suitable polymer followed by curing of the coating. The polymer is biocompatible and preferably crosslinkable in the coating composition, and crosslinked in the final product. A suitable polymer is formed from monomers including a zwitterionic, preferably a phosphoryl choline, group, and monomers including a trialkoxysilyl group. Preferably the coated product is contacted with ethylene oxide to provide simultaneous sterilization and additional curing.
(FR)Cette invention a trait à un extenseur à ballonnet dilatable à monter sur un cathéter à ballonnet, l'ensemble étant revêtu d'un enduit à base de polymère cohérent, de préférence sensiblement continu sur toute la circonférence et, mieux encore, sur toute la longueur axiale de l'extenseur sur le ballonnet. Cet enduit polymère améliore le maintien du ballonnet par l'extenseur lors de la mise en place sans gêner celle-ci ni endommager le ballonnet. On fabrique cet article en montant l'extenseur sur le ballonnet, en enduisant l'ensemble d'une composition d'enduction liquide renfermant un polymère approprié et en laissant durcir l'enduit. Le polymère est biocompatible, de préférence, réticulable dans la composition d'enduction, et réticulé une fois l'article fini. Le polymère convenant à cet usage est à base de monomères renfermant un groupe zwittérionique, de préférence un groupe phosphoryl-choline, ainsi que de monomères renfermant un groupe trialkoxysilyle. Une fois enduit, cet article est mis en contact avec de l'oxyde d'éthylène afin de le stériliser et de le durcir davantage.
