(EN)A method for allowing a mobile station to find a code transmitted by a base station which has a propagation delay to the mobile station which is much larger or smaller than a propagation delay between the mobile station and a base station from which it derived a time reference is provided. In the context of IS-95, a PN offset is sent to the mobile station to identify which target base station pilot signals to search for. By sending a virtual PN offset which differs from the real PN offset, the mobile station can find the target base station signals where normally they would fall outside the mobile station's search window.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant à une station mobile de retrouver un code transmis par une station de base ayant un temps de propagation vers la station mobile nettement supérieur ou inférieur au temps de propagation entre la station mobile et une station de base à partir de laquelle un temps de référence est fourni. Dans le cadre de SI-95, un nombre pseudoaléatoire est émis vers la station mobile en vue d'identifier la station de base cible dont les signaux doivent être recherchés. En émettant un décalage d'un nombre pseudoaléatoire virtuel qui diffère du décalage de nombre pseudoaléatoire réel, la station mobile peut retrouver les signaux de la station de base cible alors que normalement ils se situeraient hors du champ de la fenêtre de recherche de la station mobile.
