(EN)An autonomous navigation system for an orbital platform incorporating a global positioning system based navigation device optimized for low-Earth orbit and medium-Earth orbit applications including a 12 channel, GPS tracking application-specific integrated circuit (15) operating in concert with a microprocessor (90) implementing an extended Kalman filter and orbit propagator which autonomously generates estimates of position, velocity, and time to enable planning, prediction and execution of event-based commanding of mission operations.
(FR)L'invention concerne un système de navigation autonome destiné à une plate-forme orbitale comprenant un dispositif de navigation reposant sur un système de positionnement mondial (GPS). Ce dispositif est optimisé pour des applications en orbites basse et moyenne terrestres comportant un circuit intégré (15) spécifique d'application de localisation GPS, à 12 canaux, fonctionnant avec un microprocesseur (90) qui met en oeuvre un filtre Kalman étendu et un propagateur d'orbite générant de manière autonome des estimations sur la position, la vitesse, et le temps, afin de permettre la planification, la prévision et l'exécution de commande par évènement d'opérations de mission.
