Bei einem Verfahren zur Decodierung von Faltungscodes wird für uncodierte und codierte Symbole eine erste bzw. zweite Zuverlässigkeitsinformation ($g(L)U bzw. $g(L)Cr berechnet, welche für die Wahrscheinlichkeit repräsentativ ist, daß das betrachtete n -te uncodierte bzw. codierte Symbol gleich einem Wert i des Symbolvorrats ist unter der Bedingung, daß eine bestimmte Folge (E) von empfangenen codierten Symbolen vorliegt. Zur Berechnung der zweiten Zuverlässigkeitsinformation ($g(L)C wird ein Näherungsau sdruck vorgeschlagen.

According to a method for decoding convolution codes, first or second reliability information ($g(L)U or $g(L)C) is calculated for non-coded and coded symbols, this information representing the probability that the particular nth non-coded or coded symbol is equal to a value i of the set of symbols on the condition that a certain sequence (E) of received coded symbols is present. An approximation expression can be used to calculate the second reliability information ($g(L)C).

Procédé de décodage de codes de convolution, selon lequel une première ou une seconde information de fiabilité ($g(L)U ou $g(L)C) est calculée respectivement pour des symboles non codés et codés, ladite information étant représentative de la probabilité selon laquelle le symbole n-te non codé ou codé concerné est égal à une valeur i du répertoire de symboles à condition qu'il existe une suite déterminée (E) de symboles codés reçus. Selon la présente invention, une expression d'approximation est utilisée pour le calcul de la seconde information de fiabilité ($g(L)C).
