Abstract

A solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises a plurality of film-electrode units, each including solid polymer electrolyte on film between a fuel electrode and an air electrode, and the film-electrode units are stacked with separators between them. The separator is composed of a metal-nonmetal composite, which includes a fuel gas channel, an oxidant channel, and a coolant channel. The separator has metal faces in contact with the coolant channel and nonmetal faces in contact with the film-electrode units. Since the separator is lightweight, airtight and capable of maintaining its shape, the solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell can maintain its stabilized high performance for a long time.

Pile à combustible à électrolyte polymère solide comprenant une pluralité d'unités d'électrodes et de feuils possédant chacune un électrolyte polymère solide sur le feuil entre une électrode à combustible et une électrode à air, ces unités étant empilées les unes sur les autres avec des éléments de séparation intermédiaires. Cet élément de séparation est composé d'un composite métallique-non métallique comprenant un canal de combustible gazeux, un canal d'oxydant et un canal de réfrigérant. Cet élément de séparation possède des faces métalliques en contact avec le canal de réfrigérant et des faces non métalliques en contact avec les unités d'électrodes et de feuils. Etant donné que cet élément de séparation est léger, étanche à l'air et capable de conserver sa forme, la pile à combustible présente une capacité élevée stabilisée à long terme.
