A system capable of monitoring and controlling a number of pieces of electrical apparatus (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) within a region, the system comprising a base station (2) capable of communicating with at least one remote station (28), via a communication medium, each remote station (28) being associated with at least one piece of electrical apparatus (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) and further each remote station (28) comprising a local processing means capable of communicating with the base station (2), a monitoring means capable of monitoring a parameter of the electrical apparatus and producing an output signal representative of the parameter and communicating the output signal to the local processing means and a control means capable of controlling the electrical apparatus (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) upon receipt of signals from the local processing means wherein the communication medium is a bus (4) linking at least one remote station to the base station. This system is especially suitable for monitoring and controlling lighting within a tunnel. However, the system is capable of providing full environmental control within the tunnel.

La présente invention concerne un système permettant de surveiller et de commander un nombre d'éléments d'appareil électrique (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) à l'intérieur d'une zone, ce système comprenant une station de base (2) apte à communiquer avec au moins une station éloignée (28), via un moyen de communication, chaque station éloignée (28) étant associée à au moins un élément d'appareil électrique (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) et comprenant en outre un moyen de traitement local apte à communiquer avec la station de base (2). Le système de l'invention comprend aussi des moyens de surveillance qui peuvent suivre un paramètre de l'appareil électrique et produisent un signal de sortie représentatif du paramètre et le communiquent au moyen de traitement local. Des moyens permettent de commander l'appareil électrique (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26), à la réception de signaux provenant des moyens locaux de traitement, par l'intermédiaire d'un bus de communication (4) qui relie au moins une station éloignée à la station de base. Ce système convient particulièrement pour la surveillance et la commande d'éclairage dans un tunnel. Cependant, il est possible avec ce système d'obtenir un contrôle de l'environnement complet à l'intérieur du tunnel.
