A speckle reduction system divides pulses of coherent radiation into successions of temporally separated and spatially aberrated pulselets. One or more beamsplitters (30) divide the pulse s into the successions of pulselets that are circulated through delay lines (20, 22, 24, 26, 28). Spatial aberrators (50, 52, 54, 56, 58) located along the delay lines modify wavefront shapes of the pulselets. Together, the temporal separation and spatial aberration of the pulselets produce a succession of different speckle patterns that can be averaged together within the integration interval of a detector to reduce speckle contrast.

Ce dispositif permettant de diminuer les impulsions de granulation cohérente en successions de petites impulsions séparées dans le temps et à aberrations spatiales. Un séparateur de faisceaux (30), sinon plusieurs, divise les impulsions en successions de petites impulsions que l'on fait circuler dans des lignes à retard (20, 22, 24, 26, 28). Des mécanismes provoquant des aberrations sur le plan spatial (50, 52, 54, 56, 58), situés le long des lignes à retard, modifient les formes du front d'ondes des petites impulsions. La séparation sur le plan temporel et l'aberration spatiale des petites impulsions produisent, ensemble, une succession de configurations différentes de granulation cohérente pouvant être moyennées ensemble dans l'intervalle d'intégration d'un détecteur et ce, afin de diminuer le contraste de granulation cohérente.
