The invention concerns the detection of the formation of a deposit of material contained in a fluid, which consists in measuring the value of a heat flow circulating between the first and second surfaces (6) of a heat flow sensor (5) set in the fluid (3); in detecting the variations in said flow relative to a reference heat flow which exceed a threshold. The first heat sensor (5) surface (4) being in contact with the fluid and a difference in temperature being maintained constant between the fluid and the sensor (5) second surface (6), said variations represent the formation of a material deposit (1) on the sensor (5) first surface (4). The invention is useful in the oil and petrochemical industry for detecting the formation of hydrates, paraffin, polymers or salts in equipment for producing, transporting or treating gases or liquids and for detecting ice formation.

L'invention concerne la détection de la formation d'un dépôt de matière contenue dans un fluide. Selon l'invention, on mesure la valeur d'un flux thermique qui circule entre la première et la deuxième face (6) d'un capteur (5) de flux thermique placé dans le fluide (3), puis on détecte les variations dudit flux par rapport à un flux thermique de référence qui sont supérieures à un seuil. La première face (4) du capteur (5) de flux thermique étant en contact avec le fluide et une différence de température étant maintenue constante entre le fluide et la deuxième face (6) du capteur (5), lesdites variations traduisent la formation d'un dépôt (1) de matière sur la première face (4) du capteur (5). Elle trouve son application dans l'industrie pétrolière et la pétrochimie pour la détection de la formation d'hydrates, de paraffines, de polymères ou de sels dans des équipements de production, de transport ou de traitement de gaz ou de liquides, ainsi que pour détecter la formation de glace.
