The invention provides a small-sized high-precision optical instrument for measuring displacement. The instrument comprises a first member (10) movable and including optical gratings (11) whose pitch is (s); a light source (1) for irradiating the first member; a plurality of rows (31-34) of photodetector elements (39) for receiving light passing through the first member, the rows being arranged with a pitch of (s) along the direction in which the first member moves; and an arithmetic circuit (40) for measuring the displacement of the first member on the basis of the output from the rows of photodetector elements.

L'invention concerne un instrument optique de haute précision faiblement dimensionné servant à mesurer un déplacement. Cet instrument comprend un premier élément (10) mobile et comportant des réseaux optiques (11) dont le pas est égal à (s) ; une source de lumière (1) servant à éclairer le premier élément ; une pluralité de rangées (31-34) d'éléments photodétecteurs (39) servant à recevoir la lumière passant à travers le premier élément, ces rangées présentant un pas de (s) dans le sens de déplacement du premier élément ; un circuit arithmétique (40) servant à mesurer le déplacement du premier élément en fonction de la sortie des rangées des éléments photodétecteurs.
