Abstract

A solenoid actuated fuel injector (10) for use with an internal combustion engine includes a hydraulic metering subassembly (12) and a power group subassembly (14). The hydraulic metering subassembly (12) includes a fuel path (18) and an armature/needle assembly (16) movable between valve closed and open positions and calibrated independent of the power group subassembly to meter the discharge of fuel from the injector. The power group subassembly (14) provides a magnetic flux return path and electromagnetic forces that move the armature/needle assembly (16) between the valve closed and open positions. By providing an independently operational, calibrated hydraulic subassembly, a variety of different types of power group subassemblies may be used with the hydraulic metering subassembly resulting in design flexibility and a manufacturing process that is more flexible and cost efficient.

L'invention concerne un injecteur de carburant actionné par solénoïde (10), utilisé avec un moteur à combustion interne et comprenant un sous-ensemble de mesurage hydraulique (12) et un sous-ensemble de groupes de puissance (14). Le sous-ensemble de mesurage hydraulique (12) comprend un trajet de carburant (18) et un ensemble induit/pointeau (16), mobile entre les positions soupape fermée et soupape ouverte, et étalonné indépendamment du sous-ensemble de groupes de puissance pour mesurer le refoulement de carburant provenant de l'injecteur. Le sous-ensemble de groupes de puissance (14) assure un trajet de retour de flux magnétique et produit des forces électromagnétiques qui déplacent l'ensemble induit/pointeau (16) entre les positions soupape fermée et soupape ouverte. La présence d'un sous-ensemble hydraulique étalonné et indépendamment fonctionnel permet l'utilisation de différents types de sous-ensembles de groupes de puissance avec le sous-ensemble de mesurage hydraulique, ce qui autorise une flexibilité dans la conception et rend le processus de fabrication plus souple et économique.
