Abstract

An exhaust emission control device for internal combustion engines, wherein an air-fuel ratio is changed toward the rich side by an NOx discharge means to turn the exhaust atmosphere into a decreased oxygen-concentration atmosphere, and when the NOx contained in an NOx catalyst is discharged, a reducing agent for reducing the NOx discharged into an exhaust passage is additionally fed, in a predetermined time during operation of the NOx discharge means, by a reducing agent feeding means (33) such that the proportion of the NOx being discharged is equal to that of NOx being reduced, thereby reducing the NOx discharged from the NOx catalyst and suppressing degradation of the gas exhaust performance.

L'invention concerne un dispositif antipollution pour moteurs à combustion interne. Ce dispositif comprend des moyens de diffusion de NOx qui modifient la proportion air-carburant de manière à l'enrichir et à convertir l'atmosphère d'échappement en une atmosphère à concentration réduite d'oxygène. Lorsque le NOx contenu dans un catalyseur de NOx est libéré, un agent permettant de réduire le NOx libéré dans le passage d'échappement est introduit par des moyens (33) de diffusion d'agent de réduction, à un moment prédéterminé durant la diffusion de NOx par les moyens de diffusion de NOx. La quantité de NOx diffusé est égale à celle de NOx réduit, ce qui permet de réduire la quantité de NOx libéré par le catalyseur de NOx et d'éviter une dégradation de la performance d'échappement.
