A method of calibrating an article stacking device position detector (22) for an article stacking device (1) having at least one article receiving compartment (5) and being movable in a cyclic manner to transfer an article received in the or one of the compartments of the stacking device at an article receiving position (19) to an article stacking position at which the article is stacked. The method comprises: i) positioning the article stacking device (1) at a predetermined position relative to the article receiving position (19); ii) causing the position detector (22) to monitor movement of the article stacking device until a datum indication (34) is sensed; and iii) storing a calibration value representing the amount of movement of the article stacking device between the predetermined position and its position when the datum indication (34) was sensed.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'étalonnage d'un détecteur de position (22) destiné à un dispositif d'empilement d'articles (1), lequel présente au moins un compartiment récepteur (5) d'un article et est mobile de manière cyclique, aux fins de transfert d'un article reçu, dans l'un au moins des compartiments du dispositif d'empilement, d'une position de réception (19) d'un article vers une position d'empilement de cet article. Ce procédé comprend les étapes suivantes consistant: i) à positionner le dispositif d'empilement (1) d'articles au niveau d'une position déterminée par rapport à la position de réception (19) de ces articles, ii) à provoquer la surveillance, par le détecteur de position (22) du déplacement du dispositif d'empilement d'articles, jusqu'à ce que le détecteur détecte une indication de point de repère (34), et iii) à conserver une valeur d'étalonnage représentant le déplacement du dispositif d'empilement d'articles, entre sa position déterminée et sa position lors de la détection de l'indication de point de repère (34).
