The present invention relates to vehicle mounted devices (200, 600) for automatically delivering traction enhancing materials (304, 610) proximate one or more wheels (102) of vehicles (100). In a first embodiment the traction enhancing material (304) is deposited by means of an air duct (202) onto which a hopper (300) is mounted, between the hopper (300) and the air duct (202) there being located a valve (312) under control of a control system (400). In a second embodiment traction enhancing pellets (608) are shot in front of the tires (102) by means of compressed gas discharge unit (602). Further, the present invention relates to an automobile comprising a traction enhcancing device (200) according to the first embodiment and to pellets (608) for the device (602) according to the second embodiment. Finally, the present invention also relates to a method of delivering traction enhancing material in combination with an anti-lock brake system wherein the material is deposited through a controlled valve in dependence of the wheel speed of the vehicle.

La présente invention se rapporte à des dispositifs (200, 600) montés sur véhicules et conçus pour acheminer automatiquement des matériaux (304, 610) améliorant la traction à proximité d'une ou de plusieurs roues (102) de véhicules (100). Dans une première réalisation, ledit matériau (304) d'amélioration de la traction est déposé par l'intermédiaire d'un conduit à air (202) sur lequel est monté une trémie (300). Une soupape (312) qui est disposée entre la trémie (300) et le conduit à air (202) est commandée par un système de commande (400). Dans une seconde réalisation, des granulés (608) améliorant la traction sont propulsés à l'avant des pneus (102) au moyen d'une unité de décharge de gaz comprimé (602). L'invention se rapporte en outre à une automobile comportant un dispositif améliorant la traction (200) et conforme à la première réalisation et à des granulés (608) destinés au dispositif (602) conforme à la seconde réalisation. L'invention se rapporte enfin à un procédé d'acheminement d'un matériau améliorant la traction combiné à un système de freinage antiblocage dans lequel le matériau est déposé par l'intermédiaire d'une soupape en fonction de la vitesse des roues du véhicule.
