The invention provides transition metal substituted polyoxofluorometallates, a process for their preparation, and a process for the catalytic epoxidation of an alkene comprising contacting a transition metal substituted polyoxofluorometallate and molecular oxygen with said alkene. The process for the preparation of the polyoxofluorometallates comprises two steps: 1) preparing an aquozincopolytungstopolyfluorosodate and 2) replacing the zinc by addition of a transition metal salt (e.g. salts of Ni, Co, Ru, Mn, V). In examples aquoruthenopolytungstopolyfluorosodate (K9[NaH2Ru(H2O)W17F6055]) is prepared and used in the epoxidation reaction.

L'invention concerne des polyoxofluorométallates substitués par des métaux de transition, un procédé servant à les préparer et un procédé servant à effectuer l'époxydation catalytique d'un alcène et consistant à mettre en contact un polyoxofluorométallate substitué par un métal de transition et de l'oxygène moléculaire avec ledit alcène. Le procédé servant à préparer les polyoxofluorométallates comprend deux étapes : 1) préparation d'un aquozincopolytungstopolyfluorosodate et (2) remplacement du zinc par apport d'un sel de métal de transition (par exemple, des sels de Ni, Co, Ru, Mn, V). Dans des exemples, on prépare aquoruthénopolytungstopolyfluorosodate (K9[NaH2Ru(H2O)W17F6055]) et on l'utilise dans la réaction d'époxydation.
