Bei einem Verfahren zur katalytischen Umsetzung von im Abgas eines Verbrennungsmotors enthaltenen Stickoxiden wird ein Reduktionsmittel (R) in Abgasströmungsrichtung vor einem Denitrierungskatalysator und in Abhängigkeit von einer Stickoxidkonzentration dosiert dem Abgas zugegeben. Es ist vorgesehen, daß bei Unter- oder Überschreiten eines Grenzwerts (Tmin) eines Betriebsparameters (T) und/oder eines Grenzwerts einer aus dem Betriebsparameter (T) abgeleiteten Größe das Reduktionsmittel (R) überstöchiometrisch in Bezug zur Stickoxidkonzentration zudosiert wird. Danach wird die Zugabe von Reduktionsmittel (R) beendet oder unterstöchiometrisch fortgesetzt. Es wird in vorteilhafter Weise eine besonders hohe mittlere Stickoxidkonvertierung erreicht, insbesondere bei wechselnden Betriebsbedingungen des Verbrennungsmotors.

The invention relates to a method for the catalytic conversion of nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. According to this method, a reducing agent (R) is added in a controlled manner in the direction of the exhaust gas upstream of a denitrification catalyst and in dependence of a nitrogen oxide concentration. According to the invention, the reducing agent (R) is added in a superstoichiometric amount in relation to the nitrogen oxide content if an operating parameter (T) and/or a value derived from the operating parameter (T) falls below or exceeds a threshold value (Tmin). The addition of the reducing agent (R) is then terminated or continued in a substoichiometric manner. The invention provides a means for obtaining an extremely high average nitrogen oxide conversion, especially under varying operating conditions of the internal combustion engine.

L'invention concerne un procédé de conversion catalytique d'oxydes d'azote contenus dans les gaz d'échappement d'un moteur à combustion interne, selon lequel un agent de réduction (R) est ajouté aux gaz d'échappement, dans le sens d'écoulement de ceux-ci, avant un catalyseur de dénitration, et selon un dosage dépendant de la concentration en oxydes d'azote. Il est prévu que lorsqu'un paramètre de fonctionnement (T) est inférieur ou supérieur à une valeur limite (Tmin) et/ou à une valeur limite d'une grandeur dérivée dudit paramètre de fonctionnement (T), l'agent de réduction (R) soit ajouté de façon surstoéchiométrique, en étant dosé par rapport à la concentration en oxydes d'azote. Ensuite l'addition d'agent de réduction (R) est arrêtée ou continuée de façon sous-stoïchiométrique. On atteint, de façon avantageuse, une conversion moyenne des oxydes d'azote particulièrement élevée, en particulier lors de conditions de fonctionnement changeantes du moteur à combustion interne.
