Abstract

The invention is directed to a radiation source for delivery of a radiation treatment to a body lumen. The radioactive tip (55) of the source wire (15) is detachable from the main portion of the core wire (50) to allow the radioactive source (65) in the tip to be sterilized, and re-sterilized independently of the core wire (50). The detachable radioactive tip (55) also includes a flexible portion (70) for improved tracking through a lumen of a catheter.

L'invention concerne une source de rayonnement servant à acheminer un traitement par rayonnement vers une lumière d'un corps. La pointe radioactive (55) du fil de source (15) est détachable de la partie principale du fil de noyau (50) pour permettre à la source radioactive (65) logée dans la pointe d'être stérilisée plusieurs fois indépendamment du fil de noyau. La pointe radioactive (55) détachable inclut en outre une partie souple assurant un repérage amélioré à travers une lumière d'un cathéter.
