Abstract

A surgical snare instrument includes an elongate tubular sheath (12) having proximal (14), and distal (16) ends; a flexible torqued shaft (18) having proximal (20), and distal (22) ends extending through and axially movable relative to the sheath (12); a snare loop (24) at the distal (22) end of the shaft (18); a handle (26) coupled to the proximal ends of the sheath (12), the shaft (18) for moving in the shaft (18) relative to the sheath (12), and for rotating the shaft (18) relative to the sheath (12) such that the snare loop (24), when extended beyond the distal (16) end of the sheath (12), is rotatable relative to the distal (16) end of the sheath (12). The shaft (18) is preferably a multi-filament twisted, and drawn cable. The filaments of the multi-filament twisted, and drawn cable are preferably either stainless steel, nickel-titanium alloy, or a combination of the two. Such a shaft has been demonstrated to provide the high torque ability necessary for controlled rotation of the snare loop.

L'invention concerne un instrument de polypectomie à élément de serrage comprenant une gaine tubulaire allongée (12) présentant une extrémité proximale (14) et une extrémité distale (16), une tige flexible à pouvoir torsionnel (18) présentant une extrémité proximale (20) et une extrémité distale (22), ladite tige s'étendant sur toute la gaine (12) et étant à déplacement axial par rapport à ladite gaine (12), une boucle de serrage (24) située à l'extrémité distale (22) de la tige (18), une poignée (26) couplée aux extrémités proximales de la gaine (12) et de la tige (18) pour pouvoir déplacer la tige (18) par rapport à la gaine (12) et faire tourner la tige (18) par rapport à la gaine (12), de façon que lorsque la boucle de serrage (24) est déployée au-delà de l'extrémité distale (16) de la gaine (12), ladite boucle peut tourner par rapport à l'extrémité distale (16) de la gaine (12). La tige (18) se compose, de préférence, d'un câble à plusieurs filaments torsadés et étirés. Les filaments du câble à plusieurs filaments torsadés et étirés sont, de préférence, en acier inoxydable, en alliage nickel-titane ou en un mélange des deux. Une telle tige s'est avérée présenter un grand pouvoir torsionnel, pouvoir qui est nécessaire pour le contrôle de la rotation de la boucle de serrage.
