Abstract

In a Hall effect plasma accelerator (1) the propellant gas is introduced into an annular accelerating channel (2) in the region of an anode (9), asymmetrically around the channel. Ionisation of propellant gas and acceleration of the resultant ions out of the channel causes a deflection or displacement in the resultant thrust direction (F) thereby creating a steering or turning effect.

Dans un accélérateur (1) à plasma à effet Hall, le gaz propulseur est introduit dans un canal d'accélération annulaire (2) dans la zone d'une anode (9), de manière asymétrique autour du canal. L'ionisation du gaz propulseur et l'accélération des ions qui en résultent à la sortie du canal provoquent une déflexion ou un déplacement de la direction de poussée résultante (F), ce qui crée un effet de guidage ou de virage.
