The temperature of the thick film heating element of a water boiling vessel can be sensed and the element protected against overheating by use of a bridge circuit formed integrally with the heating element and comprising first and second parallel-connected arms, one comprising a PTC component and an NTC component connected in series and the other comprising an NTC component and a PTC component connected in series in reverse to the firstmentioned arm. The bridge circuit develops a temperature responsive voltage across its output terminals where the PTC and NTC components of each arm interconnect. The output voltage of the bridge can be remotely monitored which inter alia, is advantageous in cordless appliances where it enables the heating element overtemperature control to be located in the base part of the appliance. The subject bridge circuit also has application in the fields of motor stall protection and current overlaod protection.

On peut détecter la température d'un élément chauffant à film épais d'une bouilloire électrique de manière à protéger l'élément contre la surchauffe en recourant à un circuit en pont intégré à l'élément chauffant et comportant deux branches montées en parallèle dont l'une comprend un composant CTP et un composant CTN montés en série, et l'autre un composant CTP et un composant CTN également montés en série, mais dans le sens inverse. Le circuit en pont où les composants CTP et CTN sont interconnectés produit à ses bornes une tension fonction de la température pouvant être ajustée à distance ce qui est notamment intéressant pour les applications sans câble puis qu'il permet de localiser les éléments de contrôle de la température à la base de la bouilloire. Le circuit en pont de l'invention peut également s'appliquer la protection des blocages de moteurs et des surintensités.
