A method (500), apparatus (220), and transmission format (400) enables packets (400) carrying different types of information (406) to be assigned different priority levels (402) and to be forwarded accordingly. In one embodiment, packets include an indication as to whether they have a high priority (e.g., interactive speech), a low priority (e.g., non-interactive speech), etc. Packets with low priority are queued and delayed (525) until packets with a high priority are forwarded (515). Examples of non-interactive speech include voice mail, computer-generated menus, e-mail to/from speech, etc. In one particular embodiment, the system identification block (685, 695) of TFO messages (680, 690) is populated with a priority level indication.

L'invention concerne un procédé (500), un dispositif (220), et un format (400) de transmission qui permettent d'attribuer différents niveaux (402) de priorité aux paquets (400) transportant différents types d'information (406) et de les transmettre en fonction de ces priorités. Dans un mode de mise en oeuvre, les paquets contiennent une indication spécifiant s'ils bénéficient d'un niveau de priorité élevé (p. ex. conversation interactive), d'un faible niveau de priorité (communication vocale non interactive) etc. Les paquets à faible priorité sont placés dans une file d'attente et mis en attente (525) jusqu'à ce que les paquets bénéficiant d'un premier niveau de priorité soient transmis (515). Les communications vocales non interactives sont par exemple les messageries vocales, les menus produits par ordinateur, les conversions e-mail-voix, etc. Dans un mode de mise en oeuvre particulier, le bloc (685, 695) d'identification de système des messages (680, 690) en mode TFO (fonctionnement non tandem) comprend une indication du niveau de priorité.
