A noncircular-shaped compact disc mountable in any computer compact disc drive is disclosed. The disc has two or more positioning marks and sliding-resistance means. The marks are formed on the positions, at which the exterior contour of the inside positioning depression of a disc conveying deck meets the long sides of the disc while the center of the disc is positioned at the center of the positioning depression. The sliding-resistance means is provided within the data-free area of the bottom surface of the disc, and is made of a sliding-resistance material having a large coefficient of friction. The means is adapted for preventing the disc from unexpectedly moving on the deck. The sliding-resistance means may have a longitudinal rectangular shape. The sliding-resistance means may have a circular shape. The noncircular-shaped compact disc having positioning markers and sliding-resistance may have a rectangular credit card shape. The noncircular-shaped compact disc having positioning markers and sliding-resistance may be any one of a CD-ROM capable of storing read-only data, a CD-R capable of recording data only once, and a CD-RW capable of reading, writing and erasing data many times.

L'invention concerne un disque compact non circulaire, pouvant être monté sur un lecteur de disque compact informatique. Ce disque possède plusieurs marques de positionnement et des moyens de résistance au glissement. Les marques sont formées sur des positions, où le contour extérieur du creux de positionnement intérieur d'un plateau portant un disque rencontrent les côtés les plus longs du disque, tandis que le centre du disque est placé au centre du creux de positionnement. Les moyens de résistance au glissement sont situés dans une zone sans données de la surface inférieure du disque, et sont constitués d'un matériau résistant au glissement présentant un grand coefficient de friction. Ces moyens sont conçus de manière à empêcher le déplacement inopiné du disque sur le plateau. Les moyens de résistance au glissement présentent une forme rectangulaire longitudinale, mais peuvent également présenter une forme circulaire. Le disque compact de forme non circulaire possédant des marqueurs de positionnement et une résistance au glissement peut présenter la forme d'une carte de crédit rectangulaire, et peut être un CD-ROM capable de stocker uniquement des données de lecture, un CD-R capable d'enregistrer des données une seule fois, et un CD-RW capable de lire, d'écrire et d'effacer des données plusieurs fois.
