A method and apparatus are provided for generating an adaptive feedforward cancellation signal for a next sector of a disc in a disc drive. The cancellation signal includes at least one tap weight multiplied by at least one trigonometric function. To form the cancellation signal, the method and apparatus first determine a servo loop transfer function relative to a feedforward cancellation component in the disc drive. The transfer function is then inverted to form filter parameters. A position error value is then measured for a current signal and is passed through a filter formed from the filter parameters. This creates a filtered position error value that is used with the tap weights of a current sector to determine the tap weights for the cancellation signal of the next sector.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour générer un signal d'annulation prédictive adaptative pour un secteur suivant d'un disque placé dans une unité de disque. Le signal d'annulation comprend au moins un facteur de pondération de prise multiplié par au moins une fonction trigonométrique. Pour former le signal d'annulation, le procédé et l'appareil déterminent d'abord une fonction de transfert d'une boucle d'asservissement relativement à un élément d'annulation prédictive dans l'unité de disque. La fonction de transfert est ensuite inversée pour former des paramètres de filtrage. Une valeur d'erreur de position est ensuite mesurée pour un signal courant et passée à travers un filtre formé au moyen des paramètres de filtrage. On obtient ainsi une valeur d'erreur de position filtrée qui est utilisée avec les facteurs de pondération de prise du secteur courant pour déterminer les facteurs de pondération de prise pour le signal d'annulation du secteur suivant.
