A system and method for monitoring remote equipment such as HVAC equipment, are provided. A sensor is in communication with a piece of remote equipment, and a local transmitter may be connected to the sensor. An interface unit (10), having a message generating mechanism and, optionally, an antenna, is capable of receiving signals from the sensors of several pieces of equipment, forming a local network. The interface unit is provided with a programmable logic controller which performs Boolean operations or expressions on the signals received by the sensors. A central computer server is in communication with the interface unit and is adapted to receive and preferably store messages generated by the interface unit. When a sensor detects an exception condition in a piece of remote equipment, the sensor transmits a signal to the interface unit, and the interface unit generates an incoming exception message and forwards the message to the server.

Cette invention concerne un système et un procédé de surveillance d'équipements à distance. Un détecteur, auquel peut être connecté un émetteur local, est en communication avec un équipement éloigné telle qu'une installation de climatisation/ventilation. Une unité (10) d'interface assortie d'un mécanisme générateur de messages et, éventuellement, d'une antenne peut recevoir des signaux provenant de détecteurs sur divers équipements, l'ensemble formant un réseau local. L'unité d'interface comporte un organe de commande programmable qui effectue des opérations ou des expressions booléennes sur les signaux reçus des détecteurs. Un serveur central, qui est en liaison avec l'unité d'interface, est conçu pour recevoir et, de préférence, stocker des messages émis par ladite unité. En cas de détection d'une situation d'exception au niveau d'un équipement éloigné, le détecteur émet un signal vers l'unité d'interface, laquelle génère un message d'exception entrant et le transmet au serveur.
