The invention concerns an image-coding method using iterated function systems (IFS), said method comprising the following steps: partitioning an image I to be coded into a set of image regions, called destination regions; associating with each of said destination regions D a corresponding source region S and a collage function w such that w(S) is a good approximation of said destination region D; said collage function being broken down into: a spatial collage function wS, acting on the position and/or the geometry of said source region S, so as to produce a decimated source region S; and a mass collage function wM, acting on the contents of said decimated source region S, said mass collage function wM being an oscillating function.

L'invention concerne un procédé de codage d'images mettant en oeuvre des systèmes de fonctions itérées (IFS), ledit procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes: partitionnement d'une image I à coder en un ensemble de régions d'image, dites régions destination; association à chacune desdites régions destination D d'une région source correspondante S et d'une fonction de collage w telles que w(S) soit une bonne approximation de ladite région destination D, ladite fonction de collage se décomposant en: une fonction de collage spatial wS, agissant sur la position et/ou la géométrie de ladite région source S, afin de créer une région source décimée S; et une fonction de collage massique wM, agissant sur le contenu de ladite région source décimée S, ladite fonction de collage massique wM étant une fonction oscillante.
