A fast-processing, low-cost binary data counter requiring only a small circuit scale, comprising: a shifter array (10) consisting of N x (N+1)/2 shifters using as control input binary-representation data of N bits, and outputting N-bit binary data, the operation of each shifter in the shifter array (10) being controlled by each bit value of binary-representation data of N bits to thereby output as many pieces of data, in which 1's are right-justified, as the number of 1's included in binary-representation data of N bits; and an encoder (40) for converting the above binary data into multi-valued numerals according to the position of 1 on the MSB side in the binary data.

L'invention concerne un compteur de données binaires rapide et bon marché ne nécessitant qu'une petite échelle de circuit. Le compteur de données binaires comprend un réseau de décaleurs (10) constitué de N x (N+1)/2 décaleurs utilisant, comme entrée de commande, des données de représentation binaires de N bits. Les données binaires de N bits sont produites et le fonctionnement de chaque décaleur dans le réseau de décaleurs (10) est contrôlé par chaque valeur de bit des données de représentation binaires de N bits pour produire autant d'éléments de données dans lesquelles les 1' sont cadrés à droite en tant que le nombre des 1' inclus dans les données de représentation binaires de N bits. Le compteur de données binaires comprend en outre un codeur (40) pour convertir lesdites données binaires en chiffres multivalués conformément à la position du 1 sur le côté MSB dans les données binaires.
