A display device for reflection display of high visibility by using external light and by combining a variety of textures and color tones, and an electronic watch comprising the same are disclosed. First polarized light separating member (2) for transmitting a linearly polarized component polarized in a first direction, transmission polarization axis varying means (3) for selecting one of the state in which the transmission polarization axis is varied and the state in which the transmission polarization axis is not varied, second polarization separating member (4) for transmitting a linearly polarized component polarized in a second direction and specularly reflecting a linearly polarized component polarized perpendicularly to the second direction, and reflecting means (5) are arrayed in order of mention. Colored layers (71, 72) and light diffusing layers (91, 92) are formed on the front or back side (41 or 42) of the second polarized light separating member (4).

L'invention concerne d'une part, un dispositif d'affichage pour afficheur réflectif de grande visibilité utilisant la lumière externe et combinant plusieurs textures et teintes, et d'autre part, une montre électronique comprenant ledit dispositif. L'invention implique, agencés dans cet ordre, un premier élément (2) de séparation de la lumière polarisée destiné à émettre une composante à polarisation linéaire dans une première direction, des moyens (3) permettant de faire varier l'axe de polarisation d'émission, lesquels servent à sélectionner soit l'état dans lequel l'axe de polarisation d'émission varie, soit l'état dans lequel l'axe de polarisation d'émission ne varie pas, un second élément (4) de séparation de la lumière polarisée, qui est destiné à émettre une composante à polarisation linéaire dans une seconde direction et qui réfléchit de manière spéculaire une composante à polarisation linéaire polarisée perpendiculairement à la seconde direction, et des moyens (5) de réflexion. Des couches (71, 72) colorées et des couches (91, 92) de diffusion de la lumière sont formées sur la face avant ou arrière (41 ou 42) du second élément (4) de séparation de la lumière polarisée.
