A method of aligning an optical fiber (302) for coupling light to or from an optical device (306) and fixing the optical fiber (302) to an optical support (307, 308) is disclosed. The method includes positioning the optical fiber (302) into alignment with the optical device. An adapter (303) is positioned betwenn the optical fiber (302) and the optical fiber support (307, 308). The adapter (303) is formed to substantially fill a gap between the optical fiber (302) and the optical support (307, 308). The adapter (303) is fixed to the optical fiber support (307, 308) and the adapter (303) is fixed to the optical fiber (302).

Cette invention, qui a trait à un procédé permettant d'aligner une fibre optique (302) afin d'envoyer de la lumière vers un dispositif optique (306) ou de l'en extraire, concerne également un procédé permettant de fixer cette fibre optique (302) sur un support (307, 308). Le procédé consiste à positionner la fibre optique (302) relativement à un support (307, 308). On utilise un adaptateur (303) pour combler, quasiment, l'intervalle existant entre la fibre optique (302) et le support (307, 308), cet adaptateur (303) étant fixé au support (307, 308) et à la fibre optique (302).
