A thermal dispersion device for measuring the flow rate of a medium comprising a heater for heating the medium at a predetermined power; a temperature sensor for producing a temperature signal indicative of a temperature difference between an active sensor and a reference sensor; a processor for varying the heater power to maintain the temperature differential between the active sensor and the reference sensor within a predetermined range, whereby the predetermined range provides an optimal sensitivity for the device.

L'invention concerne un dispositif à dissipation thermique permettant de mesurer la vitesse de passage d'un milieu. Ce dispositif comprend un générateur de chaleur destiné à chauffer, à une puissance prédéterminée, le milieu, un capteur de température permettant de produire un signal de température indiquant un écart de température entre un capteur actif et un capteur de référence, un processeur permettant de faire varier la puissance du générateur de chaleur de façon à maintenir l'écart thermique entre le capteur actif et le capteur de référence dans une plage prédéterminée, cette dernière permettant au dispositif d'offrir une sensibilité optimale.
