Abstract

A fuel injector (10) for a spark-ignition, internal combustion engine includes a fuel injector body having inlet (12) and discharge ends (14). The discharge ends (14) includes a fuel swirl disk (24) for inwardly directing a plurality of fuel streams to provide a turbulent swirling stream of fuel directed axially outwardly. A valve regulated the outward axial flow of the turbulent swirling fuel stream. A mixing chamber (26) having an air supply (27) provides a flow of assist air and a discharge passegeway (28). The mixing chamber (26) receives the turbulent swirling fuel stream which is atomized as it enters the mixing chamber (26) and the atomized fuel mixed with the assist air is directed outwardly through a discharge passageway (28).

L'injecteur de carburant (10) pour moteur à explosion à combustion interne de la présente invention comprend un corps d'injecteur de carburant définissant une extrémité d'entrée (12) et de décharge (14). L'extrémité de décharge (14) est pourvue d'un disque de tourbillonnement du carburant (24) permettant de diriger vers l'intérieur une pluralité de flux de carburant de façon à créer un jet tourbillonnaire de carburant à turbulences dirigé axialement vers l'extérieur. Une soupape régule l'écoulement axial vers l'extérieur dudit jet de carburant. Une chambre de carburation (26) pourvue d'une alimentation d'air (27) fournit un flux d'air auxiliaire et constitue un canal de décharge (28). La chambre de carburation (26) reçoit le jet tourbillonnaire de carburant à turbulences, qui vient s'atomiser dès son entrée dans la chambre de carburation (26). Le carburant atomisé, mélangé à l'air auxiliaire, est ensuite dirigé vers l'extérieur via un canal de décharge (28).
