A free-wheeling lever handle controller (12, 14) for operating a mortise lock (10) provides free-wheeling functionality while maintaining the full operational characteristics of various mortise lock functions. A lock mode receiving mechanism connectable to the lock output (52) is used to detect the unlocked and locked conditions of the mortise lock (10), and correspondingly engage and disengage the free-wheeling mechanism. The free-wheeling mechanism has a split shaft (46) connected between a handle (30) on the controller (12) and a handle input (50) on the mortise lock (10). The two halves of the shaft (46) may be coupled and uncoupled via a shaft lock (110) movable perpendicular between locked and unlocked positions. In the unlocked position the shaft lock (110) connects the two halves of the shaft (46) to rotate together when the handle (30, 60) is turned. In the locked position the shaft lock (110) disengages the two halves of the shaft (46) to rotate separately and allow the handle (30, 60) to free-wheel when operating the door latch (90). The shaft lock (110) is moved by the lock slide/cam (200, 204) couple of the lock mode receiving mechanism, which converts the rotational motion of the lock output (52) into linear motion of lock slide (200), such that whenever the mortise lock (10) is locked, the handle controller (12, 14) free-wheels.

L'invention concerne une commande (12, 14) de poignée à débrayage automatique permettant d'actionner une serrure (10) à mortaise, dotée d'une fonctionnalité à débrayage automatique tout en conservant toutes les caractéristiques opérationnelles des diverses fonctions d'une serrure à mortaise. Un mécanisme de réception en mode de verrouillage, que l'on peut relier à la sortie (52) de serrure, permet de détecter des conditions d'ouverture et de fermeture de la serrure (10) à mortaise et, par conséquent, de mettre en prise et de libérer le mécanisme de débrayage automatique. Ledit mécanisme est doté d'un axe (46) en deux parties reliant une poignée (30) placée sur la commande (12) et une entrée (50) de poignée placée sur la serrure (10) à mortaise. Les deux moitiés de l'axe (46) peuvent être couplées et découplées par un verrou (110) d'axe mobile perpendiculairement entre des positions verrouillées et non verrouillées. En position non verrouillée, le verrou (110) d'axe relie les deux moitiés de l'axe (46), lesquelles tournent alors ensemble lorsque la poignée (30, 60) est tournée. En position verrouillée, le verrou (110) d'axe libère les deux moitiés de l'axe (46), lesquelles tournent séparément et permettent à la poignée (30, 60) de débrayer automatiquement, ce qui actionne le verrou (90) de la porte. Le verrou (110) d'axe est déplacé par le couple de blocage palier/came (200, 204) du mécanisme de réception en mode de verrouillage, qui convertit le mouvement tournant de la sortie (52) de verrou en mouvement linéaire du palier (200) de verrouillage, de sorte que chaque fois que la serrure (10) à mortaise est verrouillée, la commande (12, 14) de poignée débraie automatiquement.
