Hydrotreating a petroleum feedstream comprised of at least 50 wt. % of an atmospheric distillation distillate boiling range product stream, preferably hydrodesulfurization of raw virgin petroleum distillates, using a bulk multimetallic catalyst comprised of at least one Group VIII non-noble metal and at least two Group VIB metal wherein the ratio of Group VIB metal to Group VIII metal is from about 10:1 to 1:10.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'hydrotraitement d'une charge d'alimentation de pétrole constituée d'au moins 50 % en poids d'un débit diluat à plage d'ébullition du distillat provenant d'une unité de distillation atmosphérique. L'invention concerne, de préférence, un procédé d'hydrodésulfuration de distillats de pétrole brut vierge mettant en oeuvre un catalyseur multimétallique en vrac constitué d'au moins un métal non noble du Groupe VIII et d'au moins deux métaux du Groupe VIB, le rapport des métaux du Groupe VIB au métal du Groupe VIII étant d'environ 10:1 à 1:10.
