A polyarylene sulfide resin composition comprising (A) 20 to 34 wt % of a polyarylene sulfide having a melt viscosity of 150 to 800 poise, (B) 66 to 80 wt % of a spherical silica having an average particle size of 0.3 to 10 $g(m)m and (C) 0 to 12 wt % of a whisker, with the proviso that the total amount of the spherical silica (B) and the whisker (C) is 66 to 80 wt %. The polyarylene sulfide resin composition provides excellent balance between dimensional precision and mechanical strength and also exhibits good formability, and thus can be suitably used for forming delicate parts such as a ferrule of a connector for an optical fiber.

Composition de résine à base de sulfure de polyarylèn, qui comprend: (A) 20 à 34 % en poids d'un sulfure de polyarylène ayant une viscosité à l'état fondu comprise entre 150 et 800 poises; (B) 66 à 80 % en poids d'une silice sphérique ayant une granulométrie moyenne comprise entre 0,3 et 10 $g(m)m; et (C) 0 à 12 % en poids d'une fibre de type whisker, à condition que la quantité totale de silice (B) et de whisker (C) soit comprise entre 66 et 80 %. La composition présente un excellent équilibre entre la précision dimensionnelle et la résistance mécanique, ainsi qu'une bonne aptitude au formage, ce qui permet de l'utiliser pour former des éléments délicats tels que les ferrules de connecteur pour fibre optique.
