The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for igniting and operating a high-pressure discharge lamp, provided with: input terminals for the connection of a supply source, output terminals for the connection of the lamp, switching means for operating the lamp at a nominal lamp voltage Vla during stable lamp operation, and for generating an open voltage Vo at the output terminals before the lamp is ignited, a control circuit for controlling the switching means provided with means BM for limiting the voltage at the output terminals. According to the invention, the circuit arrangement comprises means M for detecting the transition from a glow discharge to an arc discharge.

Cette invention porte sur un agencement de circuit destiné à allumer et faire fonctionner une lampe à décharge haute pression. Ce circuit comporte : des bornes d'entrée pour le raccordement d'une source d'alimentation, des bornes de sortie pour le raccordement de la lampe, des organes de commutation pour faire fonctionner la lampe à une tension nominale Vla et de manière stable, et pour générer une tension en circuit ouvert au niveau des bornes de sortie avant d'allumer la lampe ; un circuit de commande pour commander les organes de commutation dotés des organes BM destinés à limiter la tension aux bornes de sortie. Selon cette invention, l'agencement de circuit comprend un organe M pour détecter la transition d'une décharge luminescente à une décharge à arc.
