Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile communication system comprising a first and a second transceiver units (1, 2, TBS1) communicating with each other and comprising means for utilising discontinuous transmission. In order to prevent the transceiver units from using discontinuous transmission with transceiver units that cannot utilise discontinuous transmission, the transmission means of the first and the second transceiver units (1, 2, TBS1) are arranged to transmit a predetermined message indicating discontinuous transmission after the set-up of the data transmission connection. Furthermore, the first and the second transceiver units (1, 2, TBS1) comprise detection means for detecting said predetermined message. Said means for utilising discontinuous transmission are responsive to the detection means in order to introduce discontinuous transmission when the detection means of the first and the second transceiver units respectively have detected the reception of said predetermined message.

L'invention concerne un système de communication mobile comprenant deux unités émetteurs-récepteurs (1, 2, TBS1) communiquant entre elles et comprenant un dispositif permettant d'utiliser la transmission discontinue. Afin d'empêcher les unités émetteurs-récepteurs d'utiliser la transmission discontinue avec des unités émetteurs-récepteurs qui ne peuvent pas utiliser la transmission discontinue, le dispositif de transmission de chacune desdites unités émetteurs-récepteurs (1, 2, TBS1) est conçu pour transmettre un message prédéterminé signalant la transmission discontinue après l'établissement de la connexion de transmission de données. Par ailleurs, les deux unités émetteurs-récepteurs (1, 2, TBS1) comprennent un dispositif de détection permettant de détecter ce message prédéterminé. Ledit dispositif permettant d'utiliser la transmission discontinue réagit au dispositif de détection afin d'introduire une transmission discontinue lorsque les dispositifs de détection de chacune des deux unités émetteurs-récepteurs ont détecté la réception dudit message prédéterminé.
