A system and method for collecting, integrating, and distributing video, data, and telephony signals in a fiber optic communications network for transmission along a twisted copper pair (36) to a customer location (30). The video, data, and telephony signals are received by a digital subscriber loop access multiplexer (10) and are superimposed onto the twisted copper pair (36) using a service area interface (18). The system and method enables a customer to receive video, data, and telephony communication data along a single twisted copper pair (36) at a relatively high data transfer rates. Additionally, since portions of the existing communication infrastructure are used the cost of implementation is reduced.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé servant à recueillir, intégrer et distribuer des signaux vidéo, de données et de téléphonie, dans un réseau de télécommunications par fibres optiques, aux fins de transmission de ces signaux le long d'une paire torsadée en cuivre (36) vers un emplacement client (30). Les signaux vidéo, de données et de téléphonie sont reçus par un multiplexeur numérique (10) du client, à accès en boucle, et sont superposés sur la paire torsadée en cuivre (36) par l'intermédiaire d'une interface de zone de service (18). Ce système et ce procédé permettent à un client de recevoir des signaux de communication vidéo, de données et de téléphonie sur une seule paire torsadée en cuivre (36) à des débits de transfert de données relativement élevés. En outre, étant donné que dans ce procédé on utilise des portions de l'infrastructure de télécommunication existante, on diminue le coût de la mise en oeuvre de ce système.
