A lightning protection system including a monitoring system (10) for detecting dangerous atmospheric conditions within specific geographic zones, a transmission system (12) for sending control codes, and multiple circuit connection/disconnection devices (16) for electrically connecting to electronic equipment to be protected. The lightning protection system (10) protects electrical and electronic equipment (18) by detecting and locating dangerous atmospheric conditions in a particular geographic area and transmitting broadcast control commands to electrical circuit connection/disconnection devices (16) in the geographic area, which have a receiver for receiving the broadcast control commands and an interruption mechanism (16) for disconnecting and reconnecting the electrical equipment from external conductors in response to the control commands. The monitoring system (10) may consist of multiple detectors located in different geographic areas. The monitoring system (10) may also be external to the region receiving the control commands. In the external monitoring system configuration, a centralized monitoring system detects and locates the dangerous atmospheric conditions and transmits this information to the transmission system. The transmission system then transmits control commands to the electrical circuit connection/disconnection devices.

Un système de protection contre la foudre comprend un système (10) de surveillance qui détecte des conditions atmosphériques dangereuses dans des zones géographiques spécifiques, un système (12) de transmission qui envoie des codes de commande et une pluralité de dispositifs (16) de connexion/déconnexion prévus pour être électriquement connectés au matériel électronique devant être protégé. Le système (10) de protection contre la foudre protège le matériel (18) électrique et électronique au moyen de la détection et de la localisation de conditions atmosphériques dangereuses dans une zone géographique particulière et de l'envoi de commandes de contrôle radiodiffusées aux dispositifs (16) de connexion/déconnexion de circuit électrique présents dans la zone géographique qui sont équipés d'un récepteur adapté pour recevoir les commandes de contrôle radiodiffusées et d'un mécanisme (16) d'interruption qui peut déconnecter de ses conducteurs externes le matériel électrique ou bien le reconnecter en réponse aux commandes de contrôle. Le système (10) de surveillance peut être constitué de plusieurs détecteurs situés dans des zones géographiques différentes. Ce système (10) peut également se situer en dehors de la région qui reçoit les commandes de contrôle, dans ce cas, un système de surveillance centralisé détecte et localise les conditions atmosphériques dangereuses et délivre ces informations au système de transmission qui envoie alors des commandes de contrôle aux dispositifs de connexion/déconnexion de circuit électrique.
