A simulation apparatus (82, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94, 96, 98, 100) which simulates movement signatures of a manually operated control mechanism of an automotive vehicle, the control mechanism having a user-operated control mechanism having a movable member movable from a first position to a second position, and the apparatus comprising means for providing a predetermined movement signature, control means (102) for using the movement signature and generating therefrom control signals, and simulation means adapted to be in contact with the movable member of the control mechanism which receives the control signals and produces forces on the movable member dependent on the position of the movable member. The mechanism may be a door latch mechanism of a vehicle.

Appareil de simulation (82, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94, 96, 98, 100) qui simule les signatures de mouvement d'un mécanisme de commande à actionnement manuel dans un véhicule automobile. Le mécanisme de commande, actionné par l'utilisateur, comporte un élément mobile pouvant passer d'une première position à une seconde et inversement. L'appareil comprend un moyen permettant de fournir une signature de mouvement prédéterminée; une unité de commande (102), qui utilise ladite signature de mouvement pour générer des signaux de commande; et une unité de simulation, conçue pour être en contact avec l'élément mobile du mécanisme de commande, qui reçoit les signaux de commande et génère des forces qui s'appliquent sur l'élément mobile en fonction de la position de ce dernier. Le mécanisme peut être le mécanisme de verrouillage de portière d'un véhicule.
