Abstract

An automatic intensity control unit for use in a moisture sensor which senses moisture on the surface of a transparent material. The moisture sensor includes one or more emitters for producing an emitter signal which is influenced by moisture on the transparent material, and one or more detectors for receiving the emitter signals. The automatic intensity control unit adjusts the intensity of the emitter signals to accommodate transparent materials having different transmittances. The automatic intensity control unit includes a comparator for comparing the intensity of the emitter signals received by the detectors with a predetermined reference signal and a counter communicating with the comparator for producing a counter output. The automatic intensity control unit also includes an emitter driver for providing power to the emitters in an amount which determines the intensity of the emitter signals, and an emitter intensity control signal generator communicating with the counter and the emitter driver for controlling the intensity of the emitter signals.

La présente invention concerne un régulateur automatique d"intensité destiné à un détecteur d"eau chargé de détecter la présence d"eau sur la surface d"un matériau transparent. Ce détecteur d"eau comporte au moins un émetteur devant produire un signal d"émetteur qui est modifié par l"eau présente sur le matériau transparent, et au moins un détecteur chargé de recevoir les signaux de l"émetteur. Le régulateur automatique d"intensité règle l"intensité des signaux de l"émetteur de façon à accepter des matériaux transparents de différents coefficients de transparence. Le régulateur automatique d"intensité comporte, d"une part un comparateur chargé de comparer à un signal de référence défini l"intensité des signaux d"émetteurs reçus par les détecteurs, et d"autre part un compteur communiquant avec le comparateur de façon à produire une sortie de compteur. Le régulateur automatique d"intensité comporte également, d"une part un circuit d"attaque des émetteurs fournissant aux émetteurs une quantité d"énergie déterminant l"intensité des signaux des émetteurs, et d"autre part un générateur de signaux de commande d"intensité des émetteurs communiquant avec le compteur et le circuit d"attaque des émetteurs de façon à commander l"intensité des signaux des émetteurs.
