Abstract

This invention provides detailed sequence analysis and characterization of the gene cluster responsible for the synthesis of bleomycin in $i(Streptomyces verticillus). The bleomycin gene cluster provides the first hybrid polyketide synthase/nonribosomal peptide synthetase pathway and elucidation of the various modules and enzymatic domains characterizing the pathway provides convenient synthetic routes for bleomycins, bleomycin analogs, and various other polyketides.

La présente invention concerne une analyse de séquences détaillée et la caractérisation du groupe de gènes responsables de la synthèse de bléomycine dans des $i(Streptomyces verticillus). Ce groupe de gènes assure la première voie de système hybride synthase de polycétides/synthétase de synthèse non ribosomique de peptides, et l'élucidation des différents modules et domaines enzymatiques caractérisant cette voie permet d'obtenir des voies de synthèse commodes pour les bléomycines, des analogues de bléomycine et d'autres polycétides.
