This invention provides nucleic acid sequences and characterization of the gene cluster responsible for the biosynthesis of the enediyne C-1027 (produced by $i(Streptomyces globisporus)). Methods are provided for the biosynthesis of enediynes, enediyne analogs and other biological molecules.
