Abstract

A process which comprises reacting biphenyl with phosphorus trichloride in the presence of aluminum chloride, removing formed hydrogen chloride gas from the reaction mixture, adding a pyridine to the resulting mixture, removing excess phosphorus trichloride therefrom, reacting the thus-obtained mixture containing a phosphine compound having a group represented by formula (II'), with a phenol represented by general formula (III'), (wherein R is hydrogen or methyl; and R1 and R2 are each hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl) in the presence of a deacidifying agent consisting of a base, and then removing a salt of this base with hydrochloric acid and a complex salt of the above pyridine with aluminum chloride from the reaction mixture thus obtained. This process makes it possible to prepare high-quality phosphonite compounds having phosphinobiphenylene groups represented by general formula (I'), (wherein R, R1 and R2 are each as defined above) with safety and in high yield.

L'invention concerne un procédé consistant à faire réagir du biphényle avec du trichlorure de phosphore en présence de chlorure d'aluminium, à éliminer du mélange de réaction le gaz de chlorure d'hydrogène formé, à ajouter une pyridine au mélange ainsi obtenu, à éliminer le trichlorure de phosphore excédentaire de ce mélange, à faire réagir le mélange ainsi obtenu contenant un composé de phosphine comprenant un groupe représenté par la formule (II'), avec un phénol représenté par la formule (III'), (dans laquelle R représente hydrogène ou méthyle et R1 et R2 représentent chacun hydrogène ou alkyle C1-C5), en présence d'un agent de neutralisation composé d'une base, puis à éliminer du mélange de réaction ainsi obtenu un sel de cette base avec de l'acide hydrochlorique et un sel complexe de ladite pyridine avec du chlorure d'aluminium. Grâce à ce procédé, il est possible de préparer de manière sûre et avec un rendement élevé, des composés de phosphonite de haute qualité représentés par la formule générale (I') (dans laquelle R, R1 et R2 représentent chacun les groupes mentionnés ci-dessus).
