Abstract

A rollover mechanism (3) for a pressure valve (1) is disclosed which is ideally adapted for use on mobile petrol tankers and other tankers for volatile liquids. The valve (1) comprises a valve seat (32) and a sealing means (18) which can be urged against the valve seat (32) to form a seal and prevent any fluid within the tanker from escaping through the valve (1) in the event of a rollover. Such valves (1) allow for pressure release therethrough under normal operating circumstances as fluid within the tanker often evaporates and pressure within said tanker can increase. The inventive valve (1) comprises a pendulum (10) mounted at an intermediate point along its length and having a pendulous weight (8) at one end and an arcuate contact pad (4) at the other. A float arrangement (37) for such a rollover valve (1) is also disclosed wherein a feed tube (36) is connected to the valve (1) beyond the valve seat (32) so that pressure can still be released through the valve (1) even when it is closed as a result of a rollover and the flu id pressure.

Ce mécanisme de renversement (3), destiné à une soupape de sûreté (1), est idéalement conçu pour des navires pétroliers ou pour d'autres navires citernes transportant des liquides volatils. Cette soupape (1) comprend un siège (32) et des moyens de scellement (18) pouvant être poussés contre le siège (32) de la soupape, afin de former un scellement et empêcher toute fuite de liquide à travers la soupape (1), et hors de la cuve, dans l'hypothèse d'un retournement du navire. De telles soupapes (1) permettent la libération de la pression à travers elles dans des circonstances normales de fonctionnement, lorsque le fluide situé dans le pétrolier s'évapore et que la pression à l'intérieur du pétrolier augmente. La soupape de l'invention (1) comprend un pendule (10), monté au niveau d'un point intermédiaire de sa longueur, et comportant un poids (8) au niveau d'une extrémité, et un coussinet de contact courbe (4) au niveau de l'autre extrémité. L'invention concerne également un agencement flottant (37), destiné à cette soupape (1) et dans lequel un tuyau d'alimentation (36) est relié à la soupape au-delà du siège (32) de celle-ci, de façon que la pression puisse être libérée à travers la soupape (1) même lorsque celle-ci est fermée par suite d'un retournement du navire et de la pression fluidique.
