A plurality of cursor display forms each listing for displaying on a display unit (14) messages received from a communication unit (1) and selecting the list-displayed messages are provided and a control circuit for keying the cursor display forms to types of messages is also provided. In another embodiment, a control circuit (11) is provided; that classifies messages into unopened messages where message contents are not yet reproduced by a user and opened messages which have already been opened; and that displays the number of unopened messages in a specified area of the display unit (14) when the unopened messages are stored in a RAM (13), and displays the number of opened messages in the specified area when the unopened messages are not stored in the RAM (13).

Plusieurs formes d'affichage à curseur répertoriant chacune, pour l'affichage sur une unité d'affichage (14), les messages reçus d'une unité de communication (1) et sélectionnant les messages affiché sur la liste sont prévues, ainsi qu'un circuit de commande pour attribuer des formes d'affichage à curseur aux types de messages. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un circuit de commande (11) est prévu, lequel classe les message en messages non ouverts dont le contenu n'a pas encore été reproduit par un utilisateur, et en messages déjà ouverts. Ledit circuit affiche le nombre de messages non ouverts dans une zone spécifiée de l'unité d'affichage (14), lorsque des messages non ouverts sont rangés dans une mémoire RAM (13), et affiche le nombre de messages ouverts dans la zone spécifiée, lorsque les messages non ouverts ne sont pas rangés dans la mémoire RAM (13).
