Abstract

A dielectric-loaded antenna for circularly polarised radiation has a generally cylindrical solid dielectric body (16) with a relative dielectric constant greater than 5, upon which body is plated a conductive sleeve (24) encircling the body and a conductive end layer (26) which, together with the body, form an open-ended cavity substantially filled with the ceramic material of the body (16). The electrical length of the cavity rim (24R) is a whole number of guide wavelengths corresponding to the antenna operating frequency less than 5GHz. A rotating standing wave is excited around the cavity rim (24R) by a feeder structure including two helical conductor tracks (14A, 14B) on the cylindrical surface of the body (16) which are coupled between the cavity rim and a coaxial feeder (20, 22) passing axially through the body.

Antenne à charge diélectrique pour un rayonnement à polarisation circulaire, qui possède un corps diélectrique plein généralement cylindrique (16), à constante diélectrique relative supérieure à 5, sur lequel est plaquée une douille conductrice (24) encerclant ledit corps et une couche terminale conductrice (26) qui, avec le corps, forment une cavité à extrémité ouverte remplie de la matière céramique du corps (16). La longueur électrique du bord de cavité (24R) est un nombre entier de longueurs d'ondes guidées correspondant à la fréquence de fonctionnement de l'antenne, inférieur à 5 GHz. Une onde stationnaire rotative est excitée autour du bord (24R) de la cavité par une structure d'alimentation comportant deux pistes conductrices hélicoïdales (14A, 14B) placées sur la surface cylindrique du corps (16). Lesdites pistes sont couplées avec le bord de la cavité et une structure d'alimentation coaxiale (20, 22) passant axialement par le corps.
