Abstract

The invention relates to a fuel cell (20A) using a fuel gas and an oxidizing gas as reactive gases, a separator (26) of the fuel cell (20A), and a method of manufacturing the separator (26). The separator (26) includes a flat plate (26a) as part of a reactive chamber of a fuel cell (20A), and a number of projections (26b) provided on the flat plate (26a) and brought in contact with electrodes (25a) of the fuel cell (20A, 25b). The projections (26b) are formed of a conducting material different from the flat plate (26a). For example, the projections (26b) are formed of carbon powder compressed in the shape of pillars, and they are fitted into holes in a plastic flat plate (26a) to form the separator (26). Therefore, the separator (26) is less expensive than the conventional separator made entirely of carbon. Since a fuel cell (20A) includes many of such separators (26), the fuel cell (20A) can be manufactured at much lower cost than those of the same type according to the prior art.

L'invention concerne une pile à combustible (20A), mettant en oeuvre un gaz combustible et un gaz oxydant en tant que gaz de réaction ; elle concerne également un séparateur (26) de cette pile (20A), ainsi qu'un procédé de fabrication de ce séparateur (26), lequel comprend une plaque plate (26a), faisant partie d'une chambre de réaction de la pile (20A), ainsi qu'un certain nombre d'éléments saillants (26b) ménagés sur la plaque (26a) et mis en contact avec des électrodes (25a) de la pile (20A, 25b). Ces éléments saillants (26b) sont formés dans un matériau conducteur, différent de celui de la plaque (26a).
