In a cylindrical alkaline storage battery of the present invention, an electrode assembly including a positive electrode strip, a negative electrode strip, and a separator interposed therebetween, which are wound spirally, is accommadated in a metal case. An opening of the metal case is sealed with a sealing plate construction via a gasket. A side end of the positive electrode protruded upward from the electrode assembly is joined with a lower face of the sealing plate contruction directly or via an upper current collector. A side end of the negative electrode protruded downward from the electrode assembly is electrically connected with a bottom of the metal case. The cylindrical alkaline storage battery of the present invention has low internal resistance and excellent large current discharge characteristics, vibration resistance, and shock resistance.

Dans la batterie d'accumulateurs alcaline cylindrique de cette invention, un ensemble d'électrodes, comprenant une bande d'électrode positive et une bande d'électrode négative entre lesquelles est placé un séparateur et qui sont enroulés en spirale, est logé dans un boîtier métallique. Une ouverture ménagée dans le boîtier métallique est fermée hermétiquement par une structure de plaque d'étanchéité par l'intermédiaire d'un joint statique. Une extrémité terminale de l'électrode positive faisant saillie en haut de l'ensemble d'électrodes est réunie à une face inférieure de la structure de plaque d'étanchéité directement ou par l'intermédiaire d'un collecteur de courant supérieur. Une extrémité terminale de l'électrode négative, faisant saillie par le bas de l'ensemble d'électrodes, est raccordée électriquement par le fond du boîtier métallique. La batterie d'accumulateurs alcaline cylindrique de cette invention présente une faible résistance interne et d'excellentes caractéristiques de décharge de courant de forte intensité, de résistance aux vibrations et aux chocs.
