A real-time distorsion analysis system (20) utilizes a baseline preparation processor (38) and a remote comparison processor (50) to determine (72, 78) a plurality of color and central moments for baseline and broadcast video streams respectively. The baseline stream is taken from a broadcast signal sent from a broadcast station (26), and the broadcast video stream is taken from a viewer signal sent from a remote receiving station (28, 30, 32) to viewers (34). The remote comparison processor (50) compares (82), on a frame by frame basis, the baseline and broadcast moments and determines a cumulative absolute difference which reflects differences between the two video streams. To conduct a frame by frame analysis of the two video streams, the system (20) temporally aligns the video streams. Alternatively, the system (20) uses a moment database (88) to compare the moments at a time subsequent to broadcast.

L'invention concerne un système d'analyse de distorsion en temps réel (20), utilisant un processeur de préparation de ligne de base (38) et un processeur de comparaison hors site (50), pour déterminer (72, 78) plusieurs moments de couleur et centraux, respectivement pour les trains de séquences vidéo de ligne de base et de diffusion. Le train de ligne de base provient d'un signal de diffusion, envoyé par une station d'émission (26), et le train de séquences vidéo de diffusion provient d'un signal d'observateur, envoyé aux observateurs (34) par une station de réception hors site (28, 30, 32). Le processeur de comparaison hors site (50) compare (82), trame par trame, les moments de ligne de base et de diffusion, puis détermine un écart absolu global, reflétant les différences entre les deux trains de séquences vidéo. Pour analyser trame par trame les deux trains de séquences vidéo, le système (20) aligne les trains de séquences vidéo dans le temps. Alternativement, le système (20) utilise une base de données de moments (88), pour comparer les moments après la diffusion.
